The Beatles are the best-selling music act of all time and are widely regarded as the most influential rock band in the world. Continuing our creative partnership with Theory 11, we designed a set of custom card decks that pay tribute to the Fab Four. Inspired by the vibrant colors of the Sgt. Pepper's costumes, each deck is beautifully produced with detailed embossing and gold foil. Iconic Beatles songs are celebrated in the individual playing cards, and a special edition collector's box commemorates the incredible legacy of the legendary recording artists.

For more than 150 years, FAO Schwarz has been delighting customers with it’s premium toy collection and unparalleled in-store experience. Sadly, after more than a century of continuous operation in New York City, the storied retailer closed the doors of its iconic flagship store in 2015.

In 2016 FAO Schwarz came under new ownership and Mattson Creative was hired to revive and revitalize the brand from top to bottom. We started by creating a new visual identity system and a comprehensive packaging style guide. Then we designed a wide variety of unique products including apparel, books, bags, toys and souvenirs to celebrate and support the brand. And when FAO Schwarz triumphantly returned to Manhattan in 2018, with a new flagship location at Rockefeller Center, we played an instrumental role in reimagining the entire in-store experience – from window graphics and wall murals, to clock towers and rocket ships – we considered every aspect of the brand.

What a truly wonderful partnership and incredible honor it has been for our team, to carry on the remarkable legacy of FAO Schwarz, and to inspire a whole new generation of kids…and kids at heart.

To say that we were massive fans of ABC’s LOST would be an understatement. We were so inspired by the show that we developed a set of silkscreen posters based on the hit TV series. The prints were embraced by the program’s producers, the cast as well as the network, and ultimately became official LOST merchandise.

In addition to our branding for the 97th Thanksgiving Day Parade, we also created the Macy's 2023 holiday campaign. Picking up right where we left off at the end of the parade, we follow Santa through the entrance on 34th Street, into a world of magic! We developed a comprehensive library of custom illustrations and typography to help the storied retailer celebrate the season.

An unparalleled festival of music, film and technology, South by Southwest draws hundreds of thousands to Austin, Texas each Spring. Every year the conference selects an artist to design the iconic SXSW "Big Bag" received by every attendee. Mattson Creative was honored to be chosen to create artwork for the 2020 conference – which expanded into apparel, prints and other merchandise. Sadly, due to the global Coronavirus pandemic, the gathering was cancelled for the first time in the conference's 34 year history. A contemporary reimagining of William Shakespeare’s formative years, TNT’s ‘Will’ combined a classic 16th century aesthetic with a modern rock soundtrack.
