Mattson Creative is honored to be featured in the Communication Arts 2009 Design Annual. My logo for the Counting Crows/Maroon5 tour was selected as an outstanding trademark by the juried competition.

CommArts is the leading journal in the field of visual communication and the design competition is the most respected in the industry. Out of 2,700 submissions only 200 entries were selected to appear in the annual. I’m proud to be one of them.

Mattson Creative Recognized in Print’s Regional Design Annual

My logo for Counting Crows/Maroon 5 is featured in this year’s Print Regional Design Annual! 10 years ago I saw the annual for the first time – and it had a huge impact on me as a young designer. I remember pouring over each page of amazing work, thinking, “THIS is what I want to do!” So, it’s definitely an honor to be included in this year’s edition. Thanks, Print!

Speaking at CBU

A couple weeks ago I had the honor of speaking to the visual design program at CalBaptist University. I had a great time meeting the students and sharing some recent work and my thoughts on brand identity.

Mike Berger – my friend and former Art Director – is really building a great program over there. I was impressed. Looking forward to doing it again soon.

Speaking Engagement at CBU

Later this month I will be speaking on design at CalBaptist University. I was honored to be asked to share and I’m looking forward to meeting the students in the program. Hopefully I won’t be too boring. The plan is to keep it short, show lots of work and get to the Q & A. Should be fun. Go CBU! (What is the CBU mascot? I’m writing this on a plane so I can’t check. It’s a Christian school so I’m going to guess it’s an Eagle.)
